Once you have completed the initial mission with arrival in the zone, you will find yourself in an abandoned warehouse, flooded with all sorts of rubble and scrap. At the same time, you also influence the game world with your choices within the story, which also define your relationships with other people in the zone and lead to the recruitment of individual team members for your base. The zone is full of all sorts of anomalies, hallucinations and strange creatures, whose concentration and influence increase the more you spend in the zone. Like other games from this quirky environment (especially Stalker, but I also remembered Metro, for example) Chernobylite is a raw military action most of the time, but sometimes it moves from this position to something much gloomier and more fantastic, reminiscent of Resident Evil horrors. ![]() It is this that begins to appear in your dreams and visions as you enter the zone, to give you advice and motivation for further research.Īt its core, Chernobylite is primarily a story shooter. You are Igor Khymynyuk, a physicist who worked at Chernobyl at the time. ![]() The year is 2016, thirty years after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The experience of storytelling is sometimes severely disrupted by the (un) quality of dialogues and acting performances, but this is quite effectively offset by fascinating ideas or revelations and sometimes really impressive pre-recorded moments, among which the atmospheric introductory mission clearly reigns supreme with your arrival in the zone.
